Ritual Reconnection
What are we worshiping daily with our awareness? Shrines arrive where we turn our attention to, as one of my teachers says. If we don’t create a tangible altar with intention, we might make an intellectual one out of our thoughts, difficulties or fears. If the altar becomes an actual place, how does that change our daily life?
This is an experiential practise in feeling support through the dialogue of animism. When we connect with the Directions and Elements by name, we are reminded that we are not experiencing life in a silo of isolation. Rather than only seeing them as a poetic sentiment or metaphor, we very literally re-orient ourselves in space by knowing the Directions - this is a tangible way to ground into the present. This living compass is built around an altar at the centre.

Saturn, Ivy & The Elder
These times are asking us to become Elders. We are moving from a time of hyper individuality into a time of collective inter-dependence - from the personal (inner) planets, to the transpersonal (outer) planets. Saturn stands at the edge of the known, at the threshold of change, a wise (but strict) Elder who holds the keys to the beyond. You’ve already met him, most memorably at 14 and 28. You feel him in the discomfort before growth, in the fear before the leap, in the weight of being truly accountable to others - and in the sense of freedom in that purposefulness.
Ivy structures in spirals in the dark, and blooms in the light. Saturn guides our hand toward mastery, the wisdom of tradition, of the potency in patterns. We learn to embrace our responsibility out in the world by accepting that we are part of an ancestral continuum, a stream of motivations, inclinations and a dreaming that is beyond just our individual idea of ourselves. Animism reminds us that we are in constant conversation, and that planets aren’t a distant, intellectual archetype, but a living being who shows up through our daily actions.
